Get ready to mark your calendars for the AJET events coming up in June!
The next couple months are going to speed on by as many people are getting ready to move home or elsewhere.. so let's go out with a bang folks!
*JUNE AJET EVENTS*
1) Cormorant Fishing
This annual event provides an opportunity to discover the 1,300 year-old-tradition of cormorant fishing as it has been practiced on the Nagara River in Gifu City. For those of you residing in Gifu who have not heard of this famous and time honored industry/tourist attraction, please check out the wikipedia article written primarily by the former Gifu JET CIR Doug Chinery (Cormorant Fishing on the Nagara River: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cormorant_Fishing_on_the_Nagara_River) who interpreted numerous occasions for the Gifu City mayor on cormorant viewings with important foreign visitors (political and otherwise).
We have reserved a private boat, so you can relax with your friends, drink, and talk loudly without worrying about offending small children or the elderly ;) Please bring a bento, beverages and snacks to eat while you enjoy the boat ride! An explanation of the fishing in English will also be offered during the ride, based on years of translation and research that has been passed down to AJET from Doug.
